The Poisson 2-Space Box-Counting Method Revisited

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1995
The author's box-counting method for assessing stochastic randomness in two-dimensional space can be enhanced when the area of residence is a square figure. A large improvement in the detection probability can be realized under the modification proposed even for very small populations.

Modified differential box-counting method using weighted triangle-box partition

2015 7th International Conference on Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ICITEE), 2015
Differential box-counting (DBC) is one of the commonly used methods to estimate fractal dimension (FD) for gray scale images. It has been successfully applied in many applications such as image segmentation, pattern recognition, texture analysis and medical signal analysis.

Normalized multifractal spectra within the box-counting method

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 2000
In the classical box-counting method a partition sum is used for calculation of multifractal spectra. It is shown that differently normalized partition sums yield multifractal spectra that are not equivalent. Therefore, their direct comparison is not possible unless convenient transformations are found.

Box-Counting Method in Python for Fractal Analysis of Biomedical Images

2020 24th International Conference on Information Technology (IT), 2020
This paper presents the implementation of a Python-based library with a purpose to determine fractal dimension of biomedical images. The described method is based on the assumption that the images are already pre-processed and contain binarized version of fractal-like structures that can often be found in biomedical images.

A new box-counting method for image fractal dimension estimation

2017 3rd IEEE International Conference on Computer and Communications (ICCC), 2017
A fractal dimension is an effective feature for texture analysis, segmentation and classification in many fields. The most frequently used method to estimate the fractal dimension of an image is the differential box-counting method. This method is simple but not accurate enough. Many researches have been done to improve its counting accuracy.

An application of box counting method for measuring phase fraction

Measurement, 2017
Abstract Box counting is a simple method to calculate the fractal dimension of an image, but it is poorly understood for estimating phase fraction from the microstructure image. Here, we investigate six recipes to estimate the phase fraction by box counting method (BCM).

Improved Triangle Box-Counting Method for Fractal Dimension Estimation

2015
A fractal dimension (FD) is an effective feature, which characterizes roughness and self-similarity of complex objects. However, the FD in nature scene requires the effective method for estimation. The existing methods focus on the improvement of selecting the suitable height of box-counts.

A New Box-Counting Method for Estimation of Image Fractal Dimension

2006 International Conference on Image Processing, 2006
Fractal dimension (FD) is an effective measure for complex objects. It is widely applied in the fields of image segmentation and shape recognition. This paper presents a new box-counting method for estimation of fractal dimension of images. Original ideas of the method came from the principles of differential box-counting (DBC) method.

Smoke Segmentation Method Based on Improved Differential Box-Counting Fractal Dimension

Chinese Journal of Liquid Crystals and Displays, 2013
Aiming at the different texture characteristics of the forest and the smoke image,a smoke segmentation method about the improvement of differential box-counting(DBC)fractal dimension algorithm is proposed.Firstly, the improved algorithm expands the scope of child window based on the existing algorithm, calculates every pixel fractal dimension and ...
