Diagnosis of B-CLL Leukemia Using Fractal Dimension [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Kerman University of Medical Sciences, 2017
Background:Leukemia is cancer of blood and bone marrow cells. In general, there are four types of leukemia: chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

Sensory Integration Training Tool Design for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
This study aims to design a training tool for therapy of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASDs). Typically, ASDs pass through obstacle track several times with sandbags, which should be picked up from starting point and threw into a box at the end

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...

Epigenetic silencing of the liver‐specific lncRNA LUNAR promotes liver cancer progression via NOTCH activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

Interferon beta drives therapy resistance in a patient‐derived model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Interferon type 1 (IFN‐1) production and signaling is associated with the acquisition of therapy resistance, following chronic DNA damage, via Interferon‐related DNA damage resistance signature (IRDS) gene expression. An alternative, DNA damage‐independent role of sustained IFN‐1 mediated resistance was identified and characterized by the emergence of ...

Wavelet analysis in a structured clay soil using 2-D images [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2007
The spatial variability of preferential pathways for water and chemical transport in a field soil, as visualized through dye infiltration experiments, was studied by applying multifractal and wavelet transform analysis (WTA).

Box-Counting Dimension Using Triangles

open access: yes, 2016
An alternate definition of the box-counting dimension is proposed, to provide a better approximation for fractals involving rotation such as the 'Bradley Spiral' structure. A curve fitting comparison of this definition with the box-counting dimension is also presented.
