Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

On statistical convergence in fractal analysis
This study investigated the statistical convergence of fractal-generating set sequences, motivated by the observation that natural fractals, influenced by external biological, chemical, or physical factors, rarely exhibit strict classical convergence ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Modeling Phase Transitions in Starling Flocks Using Fractal Dimension of Self-Affine Functions
This paper uses the theory of self-affine fractal functions to model the dynamic flight graphs of starling flocks, integrating the fractional calculus of self-affine fractal functions to quantitatively characterize the intrinsic nonlinear dynamics and ...

The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

The generalized upper box dimension
We introduce the generalized upper box dimension which is defined for any set, whether the set is bounded or unbounded. We study basic properties of the generalized upper box dimension. We prove that the generalized upper box and upper box dimensions coincide for bounded sets.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Application of the fractal analysis in the sea bottom recognition
The paper proposes a newly developed simple method of the sea bottom typing using elements of fractal analysis. The fractal dimension was calculated as a box dimension for sampled envelopes of echo signals from four types of sea bottom recorded during ...

Interpolating between Hausdorff and box dimension
Hausdorff and box dimension are two familiar notions of fractal dimension. Box dimension can be larger than Hausdorff dimension, because in the definition of box dimension, all sets in the cover have the same diameter, but for Hausdorff dimension there is no such restriction.
