Abstract The influence of rigidity and spacing of diaphragms on the deformation of a thin-walled one- to four-cell beam cross-section symmetrical about two axes was studied. The end cross-section of a simply supported beam subjected to antisymmetric loads applied mid-span of the beam keeps its shape and allows warping of the cross-section.

Analysis of Box Girders with Diaphragms

Analyses based on thin-walled beam theory are presented for multicell box girders of deformable cross section. The influence of flexible interior diaphragms on stresses arising from deformation of the cross section is investigated for torsional loadings and box-cell properties appropriate for steel and reinforced concrete highway bridges.
