The growing industrialization has caused the generation of highly toxic compounds such as nitroaromatic compounds. An adequate treatment to reduce the contamination of these organic compounds is necessary. The photocatalytic reduction of aromatic compounds using semiconductor materials favors the production of nitroaromatics.

Biosynthesis and Characterization of Melanin Extracted From Solanum tuberosum and Mucuna deeringiana

A growing interest in finding accessible and low‐cost sources of melanin has emerged due to its wide range of applications. This work demonstrated the use of Mucuna deeringiana as a source of L‐DOPA, and Solanum tuberosum of tyrosinase in eumelanin biosynthesis.

The Diamesinae (Diptera: Chironomidae) in High‐Altitude Andean Streams Using Morphological and Molecular Approaches

Diamesinae is one of the 11 subfamilies of Chironomidae, characterized by its preference for cold waters, typically found in mountainous regions. For the genus Limaya, two OTUs were identified using all methods, one for Ecuador and one for Peru. Seven OTUs were identified for the genus Paraheptagyia.

Microwave‐Assisted One‐Pot Synthesis of Alkyl Levulinates From Post‐Harvest Vegetable Waste

Vegetable waste is valorized through Soxhlet extraction using H₂O₂ and heteropolyacid (HPA), followed by material characterization (XRD, FTIR, TGA, DSC). A microwave‐assisted reaction at 170 °C for 30 min with HPA and alcohol yields bio‐based esters.
