Continuous Flow Oxidation of Alcohols to Carboxylic Acids Using a Ternary Pd/C‐Pt/C‐Ru/C Catalyst and Molecular Oxygen. Application to the Synthesis of 2,5‐Frandicarboxylic Acid

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 2, February 2026.
A ternary metal catalyst system based on Pd/C, Pt/C, and Ru/C is found to be highly effective and robust for oxidizing alcohols to carboxylic acids using molecular oxygen. Combining the catalytic oxidation system with continuous flow, the conversion of 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) into 2,5‐furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), a bioplastics precursor, is ...

Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction With Dimethyl Carbonate and Bio‐Ethanol as Co‐Solvents for the Determination of Pesticide Residues in Black Pepper by Low‐Pressure Gas Chromatography–Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesJournal of Separation Science, Volume 49, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The determination of pesticide residues in spices is analytically challenging due to their high content of essential oils and secondary metabolites that could interfere with detection and quantification. In this study, supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), using green co‐solvents, was evaluated for the extraction of 44 pesticides from black ...

Changes in Components of Sarcopenia Diagnostic Criteria Throughout the Surgical Treatment of Oesophagogastric Cancer Surgery: A Prospective Longitudinal Study

open access: yesJournal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Volume 39, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Low skeletal muscle is prevalent and associated with poorer outcomes after oesophagogastric (OG) cancer surgery. However, sarcopenia, including strength and function, is less commonly assessed. Therefore, we aimed to describe the prevalence of sarcopenia and changes in diagnostic criteria within 1 year of OG cancer surgery ...

Implications for Oceanographic and Seafloor Geodetic Applications Due To Settling of Self‐Calibrating Bottom Pressure Recorders

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract Ocean bottom pressure recordings are a key observation for both ocean circulation and seafloor geodesy. New self‐calibrating instruments may solve a long‐time issue of instrument drift, allowing new high precision observations. However, instruments on the seafloor may settle over days to months, potentially contaminating results.
