The pattern of branching and intercommunications of the musculocutaneous nerve for surgical issues: anatomical study

open access: yesFolia Morphologica, 2023
BACKGROUND: The aim of the present work was to provide evidence about the anatomical variations as regard the origin, distribution, and branching pattern of the musculocutaneous nerve (MCN).

Effect of moderate altitude and nocturnal oxygen therapy on cerebrovascular function in patients with COPD: A randomized, crossover trial at 2048 m

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 2, Page 527-538, 1 February 2026.
Abstract We investigated whether nocturnal oxygen therapy improves next‐day cerebrovascular function in lowlanders with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) staying at moderate altitude. This randomized, placebo‐controlled single‐blind crossover trial was performed in moderate‐to‐severe COPD patients [forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1 ...

Mitigating Dexamethasone‐Induced Muscle Wasting and Mitochondrial Impairment in Mice on a High‐Fat and High‐Sucrose Diet With Peanut Sprout Extract

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
Peanut sprout extract (PSE) significantly attenuated skeletal muscle atrophy induced by a high‐fat, high‐sucrose diet and dexamethasone, improving muscle strength and reducing triglyceride accumulation and inflammation. It enhanced mitochondrial function by upregulating TFAM and OXPHOS proteins and partially restoring PGC1α expression.

Traumatic elbow luxation in cats: A cadaveric study on the role of collateral and olecranon ligaments in joint stability

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, Volume 55, Issue 1, Page 248-255, January 2026.
Abstract Objective To determine the role of each part of the collateral ligaments and the olecranon ligament in traumatic elbow luxation pathophysiology in cats. Study design Feline cadaveric study. Sample population A total of 15 cats and 30 thoracic limbs tested.

DOES THE ADDITION OF DEXAMETHASON TO LOCAL ANESTHETIC PROLONG THE ANALGESIA OF INTERSCALEN PLEXUS BRACHIALIS BLOCK IN PATIENTS WITH SHOULDER SURGERY?

open access: yesSanamed, 2016
: Introduction: Peripherial nerve blocks is a suitable alternative to general anesthesia especially for one-day case surgery. Interscalene approach of plexus brachialis block as much as supraclavicular and infraclavicular provide reliable, safe ...

Upper extremity mass with lipomatous axillary involvement and multiple level encasement of the brachial plexus

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2022
A 40-year-old female presented for surgical consultation of an upper extremity soft tissue mass. Initial ultrasound report recorded a 5.5 cm mass, consistent with a subcutaneous lipoma.

Partial Range, Full Gains? The Effect of 8 Weeks of Partial Range of Motion Training at Long Muscle Lengths on Elbow Flexor Hypertrophy and Strength in Trained Individuals

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 25, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT We investigated the effects of initial partial range of motion (pROMinitial; 0°–70°) and full range of motion (fROM; 0°–140°) training on elbow flexor hypertrophy and strength in resistance‐trained individuals. Thirteen individuals (males: n = 11, 26.6 ± 4.0 years, 89.2 ± 16.7 kg, and 183.3 ± 10.0 cm; females: n = 2, 24.0 ± 1.4 years, 75.5 ...

Repeated Resistance Training Reveals the Reproducibility of Muscle Strength and Size Responses Within Individuals

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 25, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigated whether the responses of upper and lower limb muscle strength and size to resistance training (RT) are reproducible across two RT periods. Untrained males and females (age 32 ± 5 years) were randomly assigned to RT (n = 20) or a control group (n = 27). The RT group completed two identical 10‐week RT periods separated by

Determination of Ultrasound Reference Values for Diagnosing Low Muscle Mass in Older Chinese Adults

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 16, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Ultrasound is a promising tool for diagnosing sarcopenia, yet standardized cut‐off points and criteria are currently lacking. This study aimed to identify the optimal muscle sites and reference values for diagnosing low muscle mass in older Chinese adults using ultrasound, with dual‐energy X‐ray absorptiometry (DXA) as the reference

Delivery factors for brachial plexus palsy by newborns [PDF]

open access: yesMedicinski Glasnik, 2007
Brachial plexus injuries represent a low percentage of delivery complications. Most newborns fully recover from the injury, very few retain a permanent neurological deficit whereas some remain unnoticed.
