Nitrification Inhibition Potential of Brachiaria humidicola [PDF]

open access: yesNational Academy Science Letters, 2014
An incubation experiment was conducted to determine the nitrification inhibition potential of Brachiaria humidicola (B. humidicola) and their effect on nitrification process. The pots soil was mixed 2 mg of nitrogen through ammonium sulphate. Seven treatments were evaluated viz. control, four root extracts of B.

Nitrogen dynamics as a function of pH in soil cultivated with brachiarias

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
Brachiaria production is an important segment in Brazil's agriculture, used as a forage or animal feed. Studying the influence of Brachiaria sp. on soil nitrogen (N) dynamics under different soil pH and amendment conditions is a critical research need ...

Evidence of natural hybridization in Brachiaria humidicola (Rendle) Schweick. (Poaceae: Panicoideae: Paniceae) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Genetics, 2010
Polyploidy and aneuploidy are conspicuous features of chromosomal evolution in the Poaceae; at least 80% of grass species are of polyploid origin (Stebbins 1985). The original basic chromosome number for the Poaceae is not known and has been the subject of much speculation.

Brachialactone isomers and derivatives of Brachiaria humidicola reveal contrasting nitrification inhibiting activity

open access: yesPlant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2020
Biological Nitrification Inhibition (BNI) of Brachiaria humidicola has been mainly attributed to the root-exuded fusicoccane-type diterpene brachialactone. We hypothesized, however, that according to the high diversity of fusicoccanes described for plants and microorganisms, BNI of B. humidicola is caused by an assemblage of bioactive fusicoccanes.

Body Weight Estimation in Holstein × Zebu Crossbred Heifers: Comparative Analysis of XGBoost and LightGBM Algorithms. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
This study evaluated the effectiveness of XGBoost and LightGBM algorithms for the purpose of live weight estimation in Holstein × Zebu crossbred heifers. In the analysis performed with a large biometric dataset, both models provided high accuracy, with the XGBoost algorithm standing out with R2 = 0.999 in the training set and R2 = 0.986 in the test set.

Metabolome fingerprinting reveals the presence of multiple nitrification inhibitors in biomass and root exudates of Thinopyrum intermedium. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Environ Interact
Abstract Biological Nitrification Inhibition (BNI) encompasses primarily NH4+‐induced release of secondary metabolites to impede the rhizospheric nitrifying microbes from performing nitrification. The intermediate wheatgrass Thinopyrum intermedium (Kernza®) is known for exuding several nitrification inhibition traits, but its BNI potential has not yet ...

Teff Yield and Nutrient Uptake Partitioning During Prolonged Waterlogging: A Preliminary Greenhouse Study. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Environ Interact
ABSTRACT There is a lack of studies examining the effects of prolonged waterlogging on both yield and nutrient uptake partitioning in teff. A greenhouse study was conducted to assess the impact of different durations of waterlogging on teff's growth, yield, nutrient uptake and partitioning among grain, straw, and root components.

Plant growth-promoting mechanisms and genetic diversity of bacteria strains isolated from Brachiaria humidicola and Brachiaria decumbens [PDF]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2021
Plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) have received great interest in recent decades. However, PGPB mechanisms remain poorly understood in forage species. We aimed to evaluate roots endophytic and rhizospheric bacteria strains from Brachiaria humidicola and Brachiaria decumbens.
