Bryozoans and brachiopods

The bryozoans (moss animals) and the brachiopods (lamp shells) are related by having the same type of food-taking organ, the lophophore, which lies beneath the tentacles. Together with the phoronids, these animals are therefore called lophophorates. The bryozoans are also called ectoprocts, from ecto, outer, and proktos, anus.
