Accuracy and standardization of brachyuran larval descriptions
Invertebrate Reproduction & Development, 1998Summary There is a need for improvement and standardization in larval descriptions for them to become useful not only for identification purposes but also in comparative and phylogenetic studies. Details of the rearing technique and equipment used should be given, the spent female crab and representative larval stages need to be deposited at a national

Brachyuran crabs from Iskenderun Bay (southeastern Turkey)
Crustaceana, 2005Research surveys were conducted monthly between July 2002 and June 2003 along the coast of Iskenderun Bay. A total of 1746 crabs were captured at 6 localities in depths of 4 to 50 m. Twenty different species were identified. Among these, Atergatis roseus (Ruppell, 1830), Charybdis helleri (A. Milne-Edwards, 1867), Charybdis longicollis Leene, 1938, Ixa

AUTOTOMY IN THE BRACHYURAN, UCA PUGNAX
The Biological Bulletin, 1937A study of the extent to which the anomuran Porcellana platycheles will autotomize its legs on single stimulation of successive appendages has shown (Hoadley, 1934) that there is a clear-cut and fundamental difference between the behavior of males and of females bearing eggs.

Zool., 20:331-340.-Past studies of the evolution of the Brachyura (crabs, Crustacea: Decapoda) have, in general, provided conflicting and unsatisfactory results.

Latitudinal gradient in niche breadth of brachyuran crabs
Global Ecology and Biogeography, 2015AbstractAimNiche breadth has long been hypothesized to decrease at low latitudes and contribute to global patterns of species diversity. Range size, phylogenetic relatedness and body size also have hypothesized relationships with both latitude and niche breadth, which may further affect niche breadth patterns. Existing terrestrial data are inconclusive

Distribution and Affinities of the Brachyuran Crustacea
Systematic Zoology, 1960KNOWLEDGE of the decapod crustaceans, and particularly, of the Brachyura, or short-tailed crabs, of the Baja California-Gulf of California region, goes back barely a century and may be said to date from the early work of John Xantus, who established for the U. S.

Allozyme Genetics of Life Cycle Stages of Brachyurans
Chesapeake Science, 1977Allozyme genetic variation in larvae and adults of the crabsRhithropanopeus harrisii, Sesarma cinereum, andS. reticulatum was investigated. InRhithropanopeus from North Carolina, Maryland, and Maine essentially no geographic variability was detected at 15 allozyme gene loci, all but perhaps one of which was monomorphic in the samples utilized.
