Bioinspired Physico‐Chemical Surface Modifications for the Development of Advanced Retentive Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 5, March 4, 2025.
This study focuses on creating bioinspired artificial surfaces to solve the retention problem of wearable advanced materials. It demonstrates that mimicking octopi suction cups at various scales and using a keratin coating enhances the retention of non‐compliant poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA).

Identification of pollinators of lesser twayblade Neottia cordata with DNA barcoding reveals strong links with pine forest‐related fauna

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2025, Issue 3, March 2025.
Many European terrestrial orchids are in decline. To curb this negative trend and preserve remaining populations, more ecological knowledge is needed. Surprisingly little is known yet about the identity and efficiency of pollinators of lesser twayblade Neottia cordata, a small terrestrial orchid species associated with pine trees through joint ...

Network structure and taxonomic composition of tritrophic communities of Fagaceae, cynipid gallwasps and parasitoids in Sichuan, China 中国四川的壳斗科、瘿蜂、和寄生蜂之三級营养生物群落的结构和组成

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 17, Issue 6, Page 1046-1071, November 2024.
We quantified previously unstudied tritrophic gall communities on Fagaceae in Sichuan, China, testing for ‘bottom‐up’ effects of host plant diversity on plant–herbivore and plant–parasitoid interactions. We sampled 176 cynipid gall morphotypes from 23 host plant species, yielding 64 parasitoid morphospecies.
