Selective recovery of Au(III) from aqueous solutions using 2-aminothiazole functionalized corn bract as low-cost bioadsorbent

Journal of Cleaner Production, 2018
A bioadsorbent was synthesized by modifying corn bract with 2-aminothiazole for the selective recovery of gold. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to ...

AINTEGUMENTA and redundant AINTEGUMENTA-LIKE6 are required for bract outgrowth in Arabidopsis

Journal of Experimental Botany
Plants consist of fundamental units of growth called phytomers (leaf or bract, axillary bud, node, and internode), which are repeated and modified throughout shoot development to give plants plasticity for survival and adaptation.

Hypoascidiate bracts in Pelargonium

Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 1979
Many inflorescence bracts of Pelargonium × hortorum are hypoascidiate, i.e. congenitally outrolled into funnel-shaped structures. Their stalks are unifacial but bounded all round by the morphologically adaxial surface of the bracts. Their single bundles may be vasicentric, with xylem encircling phloem.

Removal of phosphate and nitrate ions from water by amine crosslinked magnetic banana bract activated carbon and its physicochemical performance

Environmental Nanotechnology Monitoring & Management, 2020
In the present work, magnetic separation is one of the most effective techniques to recovering the phosphate and nitrate ions from water using amine crosslinked magnetic banana bract activated carbon (ACM@BBAC) was prepared via magnetization and was ...

Betacyanins from bracts of Bougainvillea glabra

Phytochemistry, 1994
Betacyanins from the bracts of Bougainvillea glabra were isolated and characterized by a combination of spectroscopic techniques (DAD-HPLC, NMR, LC-MS, GC-MS, electrospray MS, tandem MS) as gomphrenin I (betanidin 6-O-beta-glucoside) and various derivatives of bougainvillein-v (betanidin 6-O-beta-sophoroside), i.e.

A rapid and sensitive lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) test for the on-site detection of banana bract mosaic virus in banana plants.

Journal of Virological Methods, 2020
Banana bract mosaic virus (BBrMV) is a serious pathogen threatening the cultivation of banana and plantain worldwide. This study reports the development of a practical, rapid, sensitive, specific and user-friendly lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) test for

Selective and high efficient removal of Hg2+ onto the functionalized corn bract by hypophosphorous acid

Journal of Cleaner Production, 2018
A novel sorbent (HPACB) was prepared by functionalized corn bract with hypophosphorous acid and applied to selectively remove Hg2+ from aqueous solution.

Bract Pigmentation in Bananas

Nature, 1966
SIMMONDS1 investigated the pigmentation of the bracts of wild banana species and edible cultivars. Of the two wild species from which the Eumusa series of edible bananas are derived2 Musa acuminata was found to contain a mixture of delphinidin, petunidin, malvidin, cyanidin, and peonidin, that is, both cyanidin, delphinidin and their methylated ...

Byssinosis: Airway constrictor response to cotton bracts

Lung, 1980
Inhalation of aqueous extracts of cotton bracts by healthy human volunteers induces reversible lung function changes and symptoms similar to those experienced by cotton textile workers with byssinosis. This airway constrictor response, maximal after 90–120 min, occurred in 95 out of 105 volunteers. This explains why byssinosis is highly prevalent under
