Increased Unripe‐to‐Ripe Fruit Ratios Within Bicolored Displays Enhance Interactions With Avian Frugivores

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Plants dispersed by visually oriented frugivores may enhance fruit detection through bicolored displays. Using manipulative experiments, I show that higher proportions of unripe fruits, rather than bicolored display alone, increase frugivory.

Malvidin 3-rutinoside as the pigment responsible for bract color in curcum

open access: yesMalvidin 3-rutinoside as the pigment responsible for bract color in curcum
Malvidin 3-rutinoside was the only anthocyanin identified from pink bracts of Curcuma alismatifolia cultivars. The concentration of malvidin 3-rutinoside in three cultivars increased as the intensity of the pink color in the bracts increased.
