Use of Boat Surveys to Provide Complementary Data on the Ecology of Bradypus Tridactylus (Pilosa: Bradypodidae) from Northern Amazonia [PDF]

open access: yesEdentata, 2012
Abstract Here we present new data on relative abundance and diet of Bradypus tridactylus Linnaeus, 1758 resulting from 2,505 km of river based surveys conducted in northern Amazonia. Our sampling effort using a motorized boat provided a low number of B. tridactylus detections (n = 4, relative abundance of 0.02 individuals/ 10 km surveyed).

Primitive Early Eocene bat from Wyoming and the evolution of flight and echolocation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Bats ( Chiroptera) represent one of the largest and most diverse radiations of mammals, accounting for one- fifth of extant species(1). Although recent studies unambiguously support bat monophyly(2-4) and consensus is rapidly emerging about evolutionary ...

Morphological analysis of teeth in Bradypus variegates Schinz, 1825 (Mammalia, Bradypodidae)

open access: yesBiotemas, 2016
Among the sloth species, we may highlight the Bradypus variegatus, found especially in northeastern Brazil. Given the importance and scarcity of information about the digestive tract of wild animals, this article aims to describe dental morphology in ...

Morphology of hair of two- and three- toed sloths (Edentata: Bradypodidae).

open access: yesRevista de biologia tropical, 1988
Micromorphological differences between hairs of the two-toed sloth (Choloepus hoffmanni) and of the three-toed sloth (Bradypus variegatus) were observed by means of scanning electron microscopy. Hairs of the two-toed sloth had longitudinal grooves which exposed a uniform cortex when viewed in cross section.
