A Bragg grating inscribed into an inorganic optical fiber was tested in proton and neutron fields up to doses of 472 Gy. Observation showed that radiation had no effect on the performance of the Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) used as a gauge measuring ...

Simultaneous, independent measurement of temperature and strain using a tilted fibre Bragg grating [PDF]
A single fibre Bragg grating is used to discriminate between temperature and strain by exploiting the core-cladding mode coupling of a tilted fibre Bragg grating (TFBG).

Dynamic strain measurement of hydraulic system pipeline using fibre Bragg grating sensors
Fatigue failure is a serious problem in hydraulic piping systems installed in the machinery and equipment working in harsh operational conditions. To alleviate this problem, health monitoring of pipes can be conducted by measuring and analysing vibration-

A Fiber Bragg Grating-Based Anemometer [PDF]
A novel fiber anemometer based on two pairs of fiber gratings is experimentally demonstrated and can simultaneously detect wind speed and wind direction. One pair of gratings, which are separated by 90° in space, is fixed on a small stainless steel pipe driven by a rotating disc for measuring the wind-direction angle.

Time-division-multiplexed interrogation of fibre Bragg grating sensors using laser diodes [PDF]
An intensity-based technique for the interrogation of fibre Bragg grating sensors is described. The technique utilizes two longitudinal modes of a single, pulsed laser diode as a dual-wavelength source for grating illumination.

Temperature and strain discrimination using a single tilted fibre Bragg grating [PDF]
A fibre optic sensor capable of discriminating between temperature and strain, using a single fibre Bragg grating, is presented. The technique exploits the core–cladding mode coupling of a tilted fibre Bragg grating (TFBG). The core and cladding modes

Modelling of Photonic Wire Bragg Gratings [PDF]
Some important properties of photonic wire Bragg grating structures have been investigate. The design, obtained as a generalisation of the full-width gap grating, has been modelled using 3D finite-difference time-domain simulations. Different types of stop-band have been observed.

Fluorinated Polyimide-Film Based Temperature and Humidity Sensor Utilizing Fiber Bragg Grating
We propose and demonstrate a temperature and humidity sensor based on a fluorinated polyimide film and fiber Bragg grating. Moisture-induced film expansion or contraction causes an extra strain, which is transferred to the fiber Bragg grating and leads ...

Silicon graphene Bragg gratings
We propose the use of interleaved graphene sections on top of a silicon waveguide to implement tunable Bragg gratings. The filter central wavelength and bandwidth can be controlled changing the chemical potential of the graphene sections. Apodization techniques are also presented.

Graphene Bragg gratings on microfiber
Graphene Bragg gratings (GBGs) on microfiber are proposed and investigated in this paper. Numerical analysis and simulated results show that the mode distribution, transmission loss, and central wavelength of the GBG are controllable by changing the diameter of the microfiber or the refractive index of graphene.
