Parachute suspension lines shed vortices during descent, and these vortices develop oscillating aerodynamic forces that can induce forced parasitic vibrations of the lines, which can have an adverse impact on the parachute system.

We study a novel type of braid groups on a closed orientable surface $ $. These are fundamental groups of certain manifolds that are hybrids between symmetric products and configuration spaces of points on $ $; a class of examples arises naturally in gauge theory, as moduli spaces of vortices in toric fibre bundles over $ $.

Let Hgbe a genus g handlebody and MCG2n( Tg) be the group of the isotopy classes of orientation preserving homeomorphisms of Tg= ∂ Hg, fixing a given set of 2n points. In this paper we study two particular subgroups of MCG2n( Tg) which generalize Hilden groups defined by Hilden in [Generators for two groups related to the braid groups, Pacific J.

Trajectories of Physical Function in Canadian Children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Objectives We describe trajectories of physical function in children newly diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and identify trajectories with persisting functional impairments and associated baseline characteristics. Methods We included patients enrolled in the Canadian Alliance of Pediatric Rheumatology Investigators (CAPRI) Registry ...

On the unrestricted virtual singular braid
Let n, m ∈ ℕ, n ≥ 3 and n ≥ m ≥ 2. In this paper, we study some properties of the unrestricted virtual singular braid of braid monoid UVSBmn and group UVSGmn.

We introduce and study a family of groups $\mathbf{BB}_n$, called the blocked-braid groups, which are quotients of Artin's braid groups $\mathbf{B}_n$, and have the corresponding symmetric groups $ _n$ as quotients. They are defined by adding a certain class of geometrical modifications to braids.

Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Reprogrammable multi‐material smart textiles knitted from liquid crystal elastomer fibers undergo 2D and 3D deformation under thermal and photo stimuli. Circularly knitted tubular structures reversibly contract in radial and axial directions, enabling autonomous climbing, liquid release, and micro pumping.
