Aminotransferase Activity in Brain
1975Publisher Summary This chapter provides an overview of aminotransferase activity in brain. Transamination is the transfer of an amino group from one molecule to another without the intermediate formation of ammonia. The enzymes that catalyze such a reaction are called “transaminases” or “aminotransferases.” The aminotransferases occupy a significant ...

Can brain activity transmit transgenerationally?
2021Memories encoded in the parent's brain should not be able to transfer to the progeny. This assumption, which is compatible with the tenets of modern neuroscience and genetics, is challenged by new insights regarding inheritance of transgenerational epigenetic responses. Here we reflect on new discoveries regarding "molecular memories" in light of older

Sleep, brain activation and cognition
Physiology & Behavior, 1990Some data have shown the presence of time-of-day effects in learning processes. We explore here whether the same phenomenon occurs during the night and how it relates to REM sleep. In an initial approach to the question, this paper points out the relationships between: 1) REM sleep and brain activation, and 2) REM sleep and information processing.

Reported brain abnormalities in anatomy and function in psychiatric and neurological patients led to a project based on qualitative electroencephalography examination and analysis in an attempt to find specific brain derived pattern--or sequence of brain locations involved in processing various stimuli--both visual and auditory.Specialized software ...

The sixth chapter defends the empirical premise of the main argument from a neuroscientific perspective. It begins with a discussion of the ongoing intrinsic activity of the brain. The chapter also appropriates recent work on predictive coding in support of the empirical premise.
