Complete mitochondrial genome of the Taractes rubescens (Perciformes: Bramidae)
Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2015Taractes rubescens is a high vulnerable species which widely distributes in tropical and subtropical water in Pacific and Atlantic Ocean. The complete mitogenome sequence of T. rubescens was determined in this study. The complete mitogenome of T. rubescensis 16 720 bp in length, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNAs

In the present study, we isolated and characterized the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Brama japonica by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification and primer-walking sequencing. The complete DNA was 17,009 bp in length and contained a typical set of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and a long putative

The eye of Brama japonica, which exhibits eyeshine, contains a retinal tapetum composed of guanine. The total amounts of guanine in the eyes of two specimens measuring 19.5 and 51.4 cm in standard length were 7.4 and 70.5 mg, respectively, the respective retinal surface areas being 4.9 and 39.9 cm2.

On a record of Taractes rubescens (Teleostei: Scombriformes: Bramidae) from the Mediterranean Sea
ZootaxaHere we report the second record of the keeltail pomfret Taractes rubescens (Jordan & Evermann) in the Mediterranean Sea, providing new morphological and genetic data on this rare species in the basin. The use of an integrated taxonomic approach is essential for documenting biodiversity in the Mediterranean Sea, particularly in light of ongoing ...

Pterycombus petersii(Bramidae: Teleostei): First Record For the Eastern North Pacific
Northwestern Naturalist, 2018We report the 1st record of the Prickly Fanfish (Pterycombus petersii) from the eastern North Pacific Ocean. The specimen was taken off the coast of Oregon at 44.938°N, 124.935°W in a pelagic trawl towed at 384 m gear depth over 494 m bottom depth on 4 November 2016.

The occurence of early larval stages of Brama brama and Coryphaena hippurus is reported for the first time in Adriatic waters. Two larvae of B. brama between 4.36 and 5.00 mm, and two larvae of C. hippurus between 4.75 and 4.95 mm standard length, were found in ichthyoplankton collections taken off the River Neretva estuary and station Stončica, island
