The Two-Dimensional, Rectangular, Guillotineable-Layout Cutting Problem with a Single Defect [PDF]
In this paper, a two-dimensional cutting problem is considered in which a single plate (large object) has to be cut down into a set of small items of maximal value.

The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Branch cuts: writing, editing, and ramified complexities
As I was preparing my tenure application, the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents voted to redefine tenure, removing many of the institution's historical protections. Reevaluating my career priorities in light of these changes and a resurgent two-body problem, I recognized that my fundamental goal was communicating mathematical ideas.

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

On-shell functions on the Coulomb branch of $$\mathcal{N}$$ = 4 SYM
We study on-shell functions in the kinematic space for the Coulomb branch of $$\mathcal{N}$$ = 4 SYM. We construct BCFW bridges that help us build bigger on-shell functions.

The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...
