Polymer Diffusion in Latex Films
In this thesis, I describe experiments that provide a new and deeper understanding of factors that affect polymer diffusion in acrylic latex films. This is the step that leads to the growth of mechanical properties of these films.

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.

The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Directional Flow of Confined Polaritons in CrSBr
CrSBr, a layered magnetic semiconductor, naturally channels self‐hybridized excitonpolaritons into highly directional flow. Its intrinsic optical anisotropy, high refractive index, and strong lightmatter coupling enable long‐range guided modes along the a‐axis, with propagation lengths set by their excitonphoton admixture.

Molecular weight distribution of crosslinked polymers produced in emulsion
A kinetic model for evaluating the chain length distribution of a branched polymer produced in emulsion was developed. Chain branching occurring through any intermolecular mechanism is considered, namely, crosslinking, chain transfer to polymer and ...
