The s-Process: Branchings and Chronometers
1991This contribution presents a discussion of the various potential ?-process chronometers. In principle, this means that one compares the observed abundance of an unstable isotope or of its daughter nucleus with the original abundance by which they were produced in the slow neutron capture process (s-process).

Economic Development as a Branching Process
2012This new and original collection of papers focuses on the intersection of three strands of research: evolutionary economics, behavioral economics, and management studies. Combining theoretical and empirical contributions, the expert contributors demonstrate that the intersection of these fields provides a rich source of opportunities enabling ...

Branching processes with random absorbing processes
Journal of Applied Probability, 1978A discrete Galton–Watson process is modified by an absorbing process, which, within each generation, eliminates a subset of the living particles without leaving offspring. The absorbing process will be only roughly specified by its expected efficiency on the associated process.

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses inference problems for Galton–Watson process (discrete time) and Markov-branching processes (continuous time). A Markov branching process is a continuous time branching process that can be described as follows: let X (t) be the population size at time t with X(0)=1.
