Doubly-heavy baryon weak decays: Ξbc0→pK− and Ξcc+→Σc++(2520)K−

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2017
Doubly-heavy baryons, with two heavy and one light quarks, are expected to exist in QCD and their masses have been predicted in the quark model. However their existence is not well established so far in experiment.

Production of charged $\rho$ meson in bottom hadron charmed decays and the effect of the finite width correction of the $\rho$ meson

open access: yes, 2013
We calculate the branching ratio of a bottom hadron decaying into a charmed hadron and a charged $\rho$ meson within the QCD factorization approach. We consider the effect of the finite width correction of the $\rho$ meson.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Morphology and variability of the facial nerve trunk depending on the branching pattern, gender, anthropometric type and side of the head in Moldovan population

open access: yesFolia Morphologica, 2023
BACKGROUND: Knowledge concerning variability of the facial nerve trunk (FNT) direction after its exit through the stylomastoid foramen is of a great clinical significance for maxillofacial surgeons, otorhinolaryngologists, oncologists, specialists in ...

Annihilation Type Radiative Decays of $B$ Meson in Perturbative QCD Approach

open access: yes, 2006
With the perturbative QCD approach based on $k_T$ factorization, we study the pure annihilation type radiative decays $B^0 \to \phi\gamma$ and $B^0\to J/\psi \gamma$. We find that the branching ratio of $B^0 \to \phi\gamma$ is $(2.7^{+0.3+1.2}_{-0.6-0.6})

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

How large can the branching ratio of $B_s \to \tau^+ \tau^-$ be ?

open access: yes, 2012
Motivated by the large like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry observed recently, whose explanation would require an enhanced decay rate of $B_s \to \tau^+ \tau^-$, we explore how large a branching ratio of this decay mode is allowed by the present constraints.

X-ray absorption branching ratio in actinides: LDA+DMFT approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
To investigate the x-ray absorption (XAS) branching ratio from the core 4d to valence 5f states, we set up a theoretical framework by using a combination of density functional theory in the local density approximation and Dynamical Mean Field Theory (LDA+

Metformin promotes mitochondrial integrity through AMPK‐signaling in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Metformin mediates mitochondrial quality control in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) fibroblasts carrying mtDNA mutations. At therapeutic levels, metformin activates AMPK signaling to restore mitochondrial dynamics by promoting fusion and restraining fission, while preserving mitochondrial mass, enhancing autophagy/mitophagy and biogenesis ...

Power scaling, vascular branching, and the Golden Ratio

open access: yesIdeas in Ecology and Evolution, 2016
The Golden Ratio (a ratio of ~1.618:1) appears repeatedly in nature including structural and functional traits of organisms (e.g. Fibonacci spirals of snail shells and certain seed heads), the spiraled shape of galaxies and hurricanes, and even in much ...
