We relate, in 10 and 11 dimensional supergravities, configurations of intersecting closed branes with vanishing binding energy to configurations where one of the branes opens and has its boundaries attached to the other. These boundaries are charged with respect to fields living on the closed brane.

The dynamical second-order transport coefficients of smeared Dp-brane
The smeared Dp-brane is constructed by having the black Dp-brane uniformly smeared over several transverse directions. After integrating the spherical directions and the smeared directions, the smeared Dp-brane turns out to be a Chamblin-Reall model with

Brane-world stars with a solid crust and vacuum exterior [PDF]
The minimal geometric deformation approach is employed to show the existence of brane-world stellar distributions with a vacuum Schwarzschild exterior, thus without energy leaking from the exterior of the brane-world star into the extra dimension.

1/N correction in the D3-brane description of a circular Wilson loop at strong coupling [PDF]
We compute the one-loop correction to the probe D3-brane action in AdS5 x S5 expanded around the classical Drukker-Fiol solution ending on a circle at the boundary. It is given essentially by the logarithm of the one-loop partition function of an Abelian

Two classical scalar fields are minimally coupled to gravity in the Kachru-Shulz-Silverstein scenario with a rolling fifth radius. A Tolman wormhole solution is found for a R x S^3 brane with Lorentz metric and for a R x AdS_3 brane with positive definite metric.

D7‐brane moduli space in axion monodromy and fluxbrane inflation [PDF]
We analyze the quantum‐corrected moduli space of D7‐brane position moduli with special emphasis on inflationary model building. D7‐brane deformation moduli are key players in two recently proposed inflationary scenarios: The first, D7‐brane chaotic ...

Non-Lagrangian theories from brane junctions [PDF]
A bstractIn this article we use 5-brane junctions to study the 5D TN SCFTs corresponding to the 5D $ \mathcal{N} $ = 1 uplift of the 4D $ \mathcal{N} $ = 2 strongly coupled gauge theories, which are obtained by compactifying N M5 branes on a sphere with ...
