Folding branes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2005
We study classical dynamics of a probe Dp-brane moving in a background sourced by a stack of Dp-branes. In this context the physics is similar to that of the effective action for open-string tachyon condensation, but with a power-law runaway potential.

Two Micron‐Size Dark Dimensions

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Two extra dimensions of micron scale might simultaneously address the gauge and cosmological hierarchy problems. In this paper various observational bounds in scenarios with one and two large extra dimensions are examined, to see if they are compatible with the micron scale.

Relaxing the W′ Constraint on Compact Extradimension

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2022
In this paper, we study the constraint on brane tension and compactification scale for models with brane fluctuations using the results from the direct search of W′ at 13 TeV LHC, with an integrated luminosity of 36.1fb−1, in the case for which branon ...

Skyrme branes

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2009
We obtain static selfgravitating solitonic 3-brane solutions in the Einstein-Skyrme model in 7D. These solitons correspond to a smooth version of the previously discussed cosmic p-brane solutions. We show how the energy momentum tensor of the Skyrme field is able to smooth out the singularities found in the thin wall approximation and falls fast enough

Lovelock branes [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2017
We study the problem of finding brane-like solutions to Lovelock gravity, adopting a general approach to establish conditions that a lower dimensional base metric must satisfy in order that a solution to a given Lovelock theory can be constructed in one higher dimension.

Barriers and Facilitators to Implementing Cognitive Stimulation and Reminiscence Therapy for Dementia in Care Homes: Systematic Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives Psychosocial interventions play a vital role in addressing the complex needs of people with dementia in care homes. Cognitive stimulation and reminiscence therapy are recommended by the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence to support the cognition, independence, and wellbeing of people with dementia, and crucially ...

Report of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) on the effects of climate change on the risk of transmission of foodborne pathogens

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 3, July 2025.
Abstract The Scientific Committee of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has carried out an updated review of the scientific evidence on the influence of climate change on the transmission of foodborne pathogens. This global phenomenon represents an emerging threat to food safety and public health, since alterations in weather ...

Emergent de Sitter cosmology near black hole horizon

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We propose an effective model for an exponentially expanding universe in the brane-world scenario. The setup consists of a 5D black hole and a brane close to the black hole horizon.

Celestial Topology, Symmetry Theories, and Evidence for a NonSUSY D3‐Brane CFT

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract Symmetry Theories (SymThs) provide a flexible framework for analyzing the global categorical symmetries of a D$D$‐dimensional QFTD$\text{QFT}_{D}$ in terms of a (D+1)$(D+1)$‐dimensional bulk system SymThD+1$\text{SymTh}_{D+1}$. In QFTs realized via local string backgrounds, these SymThs naturally arise from dimensional reduction of the linking
