Cosmological 3-brane solutions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1999
We analyze cosmological equations in the brane world scenario with one extra space-like dimension. We demonstrate that the cosmological equations can be reduced to the usual 4D Friedmann type if the bulk energy-momentum tensor is different from zero. We then generalize these equations to the case of a brane of finite thickness. We also demonstrate that

Pure geometric f(R) branes

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
In this paper, we investigate pure geometric f(R) cosmology branes embedded in five-dimensional spacetime. The form of f(R) is chosen as a polynomial. The Five-dimensional scalar curvature R is assumed to be constant.

A worldsheet description of instant folded strings

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
Time-like linear dilaton backgrounds admit a classical solution that describes a closed folded string that is created at an instant. We refer to such strings as Instant Folded Strings (IFS).

BRANE UNIVERSES AND THE COSMOLOGICAL CONSTANT [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 2005
The cosmological constant problem and brane universes are reviewed briefly. We discuss how the cosmological constant problem manifests itself in various scenarios for brane universes. We review attempts — and their difficulties — that aim at a solution of the cosmological constant problem.

Dirichlet baths and the not-so-fine-grained Page curve

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We present a doubly holographic prescription for computing entanglement entropy on a gravitating brane. It involves a Ryu-Takayanagi surface with a Dirichlet anchoring condition.

Shedding light on dark bubble cosmology

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Dark bubble cosmology is an alternative paradigm to compactification, which can circumvent issues of moduli stabilization and scale separation. In this paper we investigate how electromagnetic fields can be incorporated in this framework.

Aspects of string phenomenology in particle physics and cosmology

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
I discuss possible connections between several scales in particle physics and cosmology, such the the electroweak, inflation, dark energy and Planck scales. In particular, I discuss the physics of extra dimensions and low scale gravity that are motivated

Stability of Fluctating Baby-Skyrme Brane [PDF]

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences
This work studies the stability of fluctuating Baby-Skyrme brane as a model for early-time cosmology recently introduced in [1]. The dynamical system consists of two dynamical quantities (ϕ, H) with two differential equations and one constraint.

Brane-world and loop cosmology from a gravity–matter coupling perspective

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
We show that the effective brane-world and the loop quantum cosmology background expansion histories can be reproduced from a modified gravity perspective in terms of an f(R) gravity action plus a g(R) term non-minimally coupled with the matter ...
