It is argued that typically the initial singularity is isotropic in brane world cosmological models. Consequently brane cosmology naturally gives rise to a set of initial data that provide the conditions for inflation to subsequently take place, leading to a self-consistent and viable cosmological scenario.

Recent Developments in Gravity, 2003
Recent ideas from particle physics introduce the possibility that the universe could be a higher‐dimensional spacetime, with our observable part of the universe being a 4‐dimensional “brane” surface. In this brane world scenario, Standard Model particles and fields are confined to the brane, while gravity propagates freely in all dimensions.

EFFECTIVE COSMOLOGICAL CONSTANT IN BRANE COSMOLOGY
International Journal of Modern Physics D, 2006We consider a brane-world of co-dimension one without reflection symmetry. Through it, we give a possible explanation of the great discrepancy between the vacuum energy and the observed cosmological constant without contradiction to the knowledge we have about our Universe. We also show the gravity observed will be standard four-dimensional gravity as

We review the basic ideas and results of brane cosmology based on the 5-dimensional model by Randall and Sundrum. The Einstein equations on the braneworld are derived by using standard techniques in general relativity. It is found that the Einstein equations in this case contain extra terms which are absent in the conventional 4-dimensional case.
