UV Shadows in EFTs: Accidental Symmetries, Robustness and No‐Scale Supergravity
Abstract We argue that accidental approximate scaling symmetries are robust predictions of weakly coupled string vacua, and show that their interplay with supersymmetry and other (generalised) internal symmetries underlies the ubiquitous appearance of no‐scale supergravities in low‐energy 4D EFTs.

The Cosmological Slingshot Scenario: a Stringy Proposal for the Early Time Cosmology [PDF]
In the Cosmological Slingshot Scenario, our Universe is a D3-brane that extends in the 4d noncompact directions of a warped Calabi-Yau compactification of IIB Supergravity.

Cosmologies inside hyperbolic black holes
Models with closed FRW cosmologies on the worldvolume of a constant-tension brane inside a black hole provide an interesting setup for studying cosmology holographically.

We summarize the main ideas underlying brane cosmology, or the cosmology of a Universe considered as a submanifold of a higher-dimensional spacetime and where ordinary matter is supposed to be confined. This new scenario, motivated by recent developments in string theory, leads to several specific features that could allow, via forthcoming high ...

O‐Plane Backreaction and Scale Separation in Type IIA Flux Vacua
Abstract We construct AdS4 flux vacua of type IIA string theory in the supergravity (large volume, small ) regime, including the backreaction of O6‐planes. Our solutions are the localized versions of the smeared solutions on Calabi‐Yau orientifolds studied by DeWolfe, Giryavets, Kachru and Taylor and in other works.

Dark bubbles: decorating the wall
Motivated by the difficulty of constructing de Sitter vacua in string theory, a new approach was proposed in arXiv:1807.01570 and arXiv:1907.04268 , where four dimensional de Sitter space was realized as the effective cosmology, with matter and radiation,

Shortcut in codimension-2 brane cosmology in light of GW170817
In this paper, our universe is regarded as a codimension-2 brane embedded in a noncompact six-dimensional Anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime. We derive the gravitational horizon radius on the brane under the low-energy approximation, which reflects how the ...

FROM p-BRANES TO COSMOLOGY [PDF]
We study the relationship between static p-brane solitons and cosmological solutions of string theory or M theory. We discuss two different ways in which extremal p-branes can be generalized to nonextremal ones, and show how wide classes of recently discussed cosmological models can be mapped into nonextremal p-brane solutions of one of these two ...

Predicting the Orbifold Origin of the MSSM
MSSM‐like string models from the compactification of the heterotic string on toroidal orbifolds (of the kind T6/P) have distinct phenomenological properties, like the spectrum of vector‐like exotics, the scale of supersymmetry breaking, and the existence of non‐Abelian flavor symmetries.

COMMENTS ON BRANE WORLD COSMOLOGY [PDF]
In this letter we consider some constraints on brane-world cosmologies. In the first part we analyze different behaviors for the expansion of our universe by imposing constraints on the speed of sound. In the second part, we study the nature of matter on the brane world by means of the well-known energy conditions.
