Patterns of Evolution of Frontal Systems Along the South-Southeastern Brazilian Coast

2018
In this chapter, the meteorological characteristics of the South-Southeast Brazilian coast are analysed, in particular the frontal systems and their influence on ocean circulation and sea level. The analyses are based on meteorological fields (pressure, temperature and wind) and oceanic fields (ocean currents and sea level) calculated by the CFS-v2 ...

New Data on Warrana besnardi, a Tiny Bivalve Mollusk from the Southeastern Brazilian Coast

American Malacological Bulletin, 2020
Warrana besnardi (Klappenbach, 1963) is the single Atlantic species of the genus, and part of the family Condylocardiidae, composed of 21 genera and about 150 species. Recent availability of many well-preserved specimens allowed us to perform a detailed study of the shell of this species, using scanning electron microscopy and descriptions of the hinge

An assessment of PCB and PBDE contamination in two tropical dolphin species from the Southeastern Brazilian coast

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2015
PCBs and PBDEs were determined in two dolphin species, Sotalia guianensis and Steno bredanensis, from an upwelling system off the Central-northern coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. PCB levels varied from 0.040 to 0.75 μg g(-1) lw in muscles and from 0.022 to 1.32 μg g(-1)lw in liver samples from S. guianensis. In S. bredanensis, values varied from 0.085
