Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Superior energy storage capacity of polymer-based bilayer composites by introducing 2D ferroelectric micro-sheets

open access: yesNature Communications
Dielectric polymer capacitors suffer from low discharged energy density and efficiency due to their low breakdown strength, small dielectric constant and large electric hysteresis.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Cyclic Injection to Enhance Hydraulic Fracturing Efficiency: Insights from Laboratory Experiments

open access: yesGeofluids, 2020
In hydraulic fracturing applications, there is substantial interest to reduce the formation breakdown pressure. Previous research results show that the cyclic injection method can be used to reduce that pressure.

AC Breakdown Characteristics of LDPE in the Presence of Crosslinking By-products.

open access: yes, 2011
LDPE films of 50?m thick were soaked into crosslinking byproducts which are acetophenone, ?-methylstyrene and cumyl alcohol. The samples were used to perform the breakdown strength (Eb) of the LDPE with the byproducts chemical reside in the sample.

Anderson localization of polaron states

open access: yes, 2002
Using the vanishing of the typical polaron tunneling rate as an indicator of the breakdown of itinerancy, we study the localization of polaron states in a generic model for a disordered polaronic material.

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Effect of TiO2 size factor on the electrical properties of polyethylene matrix dielectrics

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
In this study, the TiO2 nanoparticles and TiO2 nanofibers were chosen as inorganic fillers to dope into the linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE).

Jamming under tension in polymer crazes

open access: yes, 2002
Molecular dynamics simulations are used to study a unique expanded jammed state. Tension transforms many glassy polymers from a dense glass to a network of fibrils and voids called a craze.
