Dielectric Breakdown Characteristics of Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene Films: Surface Structures on Thickness Dependence

open access: yesHigh Voltage
Film capacitors, essential for energy storage in power systems, benefit from reduced film thickness to increase capacitance and lower costs. While the inverse power law traditionally links higher electric strength with thinner films, its validity ...

Towards Recyclable Insulation Materials for High Voltage Cables

open access: yes, 2011
The preferred material for modern extruded high voltage transmission cables is cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). This material has excellent thermo-mechanical and dielectric properties, however it is not easily recycled at end of use, raising questions ...

Resonance Measurement of Nonlocal Spin Torque in a Three-Terminal Magnetic Device

open access: yes, 2012
A pure spin current generated within a nonlocal spin valve can exert a spin transfer torque on a nanomagnet. This nonlocal torque enables new design schemes for magnetic memory devices that do not require the application of large voltages across tunnel ...

Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and

Fermi Surface of the Electron-doped Cuprate Superconductor Nd_{2-x}Ce_xCuO_{4} Probed by High-Field Magnetotransport

open access: yes, 2011
We report on the study of the Fermi surface of the electron-doped cuprate superconductor Nd$_{2-x}$Ce$_x$CuO$_{4}$ by measuring the interlayer magnetoresistance as a function of the strength and orientation of the applied magnetic field.

Understanding the Role of Superhydrophobicity and Superhydrophilicity in Salt‐Spray Corrosion of Nanosecond Pulsed Laser‐Textured AA2024 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanosecond pulse laser texturing yields superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic AA2024 surfaces. Salt‐spray tests show that periodic superhydrophobic patterns suppress pitting, whereas superhydrophilic textures enhance it, linking laser‐induced morphology, wettability, and oxide chemistry to corrosion resistance.
