On The Breakdown Strength of the Pillbox-Type RF Windows
2007 IEEE International Vacuum Electronics Conference, 2007Comparative research of breakdown powers and their frequency dependences are described in the paper for three types of RF windows. Breakdown power curves are shown to differ significantly from each other depending on the pillbox window design and from threshold power curves of other destructive phenomena.

The breakdown strength of two-layer dielectrics
11th International Symposium on High-Voltage Engineering (ISH 99), 1999In paper the experimental results of the breakdown strength study for the two-layer dielectrics under the high electric field are given. The relation between the breakdown strength (E b ) and the boundary position (ξ) between layers for the two-layer dielectrics is anomalous in character.

Breakdown strength of solid dielectrics in liquid nitrogen
IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2008The objective of this research was to determine if a relationship could be found between dielectric strength and other properties of electrical insulating materials in the medium of liquid nitrogen on an empirical basis by using variables predicted by basic theory.

Electrical Breakdown Strength of Alumina at High Temperatures
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1981The dc electrical strength of sapphire and poly crystalline alumina was studied up to 1400°C. The electrical strength was essentially identical for both materials. It was > 10 6 V/cm at room temperature and decreased gradually with temperature up to 900°C (2.6×10 5

The impulse breakdown strength of pyrex glass
Physica, 1954Synopsis The electric strengt of Pyrex glass has been measured at temperatures between −50°C and +100°C, using approximately linearly rising impulse voltages of durations between 30 secs and 1 × 10−5 sec. The values of electric strength obtained from successive comparable measurements were within ± 2½% of each other, which is within the limits of the

Space charge and impulse breakdown strength in XLPE
Proceedings of 1994 4th International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials (ICPADM), 2002The impulse breakdown strength of XLPE samples made of cable-grade material poled at 35 kV/mm DC has been found to be reduced by approximately 35 kV/mm for the aiding case compared to the opposing polarity. The internal space charge distribution is, however, found to be reasonably homogeneous and consisting of negative net charge, seemingly ...

Electrical breakdown strength of polyolefin with controlled spherulites
[1991] Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials, 2002Discusses methods for obtaining stable spherulite diameters of LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene), and the electrical breakdown strength of LLDPE with controlled spherulites. Higher molecular weights are shown to cause lower-diameter spherulites. On the other hand, it seems that the spherulite diameter of an LLDPE whose MFR is from 0.35 to 20 is ...

Improving the breakdown strength of rutile capacitor by gelcasting
Journal of Materials Science Letters, 2001Gelcasting, one of the colloidal in-situ forming techniques, has been highly concerned and utilized in the forming of many sorts of ceramic material systems [1–3], for homogeneous microstructures of bodies can be assured by this low-cost and near-net-shape molding process [4–8].

Effect of Elongation on Dielectric Breakdown Strength in Polyethylene
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1975A measurement of the dielectric breakdown strength in low- and high-density polyethylene was carried out under the condition of elongation by tensile stress. The wave forms of applied voltages were a.c., d.c. and impulse (1×40 µs) voltages, and the thickness of films of polyethylene was ca. 50 µm.

Influence of morphology on electrical breakdown strength for polypropylene
[1991] Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials, 2002To elucidate the mechanism of electrical breakdown for an insulating polymer, the authors investigated the correlation of impulse breakdown behavior and morphological structure for polyolefins. Since polypropylene (PP) has a morphology which can easily be observed under a microscope with polarized light, the behavior of this polymer was studied.
