RF voltage breakdown and the Paschen curve

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1974
A representation based on the similarity relations for voltage breakdown is shown to be useful in combining RF and dc voltage breakdown data. The representation for the uniform field geometry is given.

Voltage Breakdown of Antennas at High Altitude

Proceedings of the IRE, 1960
The factors influencing the power-handling capability of antennas at high altitude are considered in this paper. The physical mechanism involved, including the roles of attachment, free diffusion, ambipolar diffusion, and nonuniform field distribution in the breakdown process, is qualitatively described.

Electrical Breakdown of Air at High Voltages

Nature, 1965
PREVIOUS measurements1–3 in this Department of pre-breakdown ionization currents in uniform electric fields in air have shown that, using gap voltages up to about 80 kV, and values of pds∼2,300 mm mercury cm (p the gas pressure; ds the sparking distance), the steady-state spatial growth of ionization is a consequence of the operation of primary and ...

The breakdown voltage of shielded microstrip lines

Proceedings of the 1998 South African Symposium on Communications and Signal Processing-COMSIG '98 (Cat. No. 98EX214), 2002
The measured breakdown voltage of an etched shielded microstrip line is more than three times higher than the current theoretical value for a stripline with rounded corners. A simple model is proposed for the theoretical prediction of the breakdown voltage.

FIELD EMISSION IN VACUUM VOLTAGE BREAKDOWN

1964
Abstract : Field intensification and emitting area are determined for a spheroid and a whisker-shaped protrusion. The effects of an inhomogeneous field around a protrusion on the transmission coefficient for field emission are computed, and examples are given.
