Eyeblink entrainment at breakpoints of speech

Experimental Brain Research, 2010
The eyes play an essential role in social communication. Eyeblinks, however, have thus far received minor attention. We previously showed that subjects blink in synchrony while viewing the same video stories (Nakano et al. in Proc R Soc B 276:3635-3644, 2009).

Breakpoint Chlorination Curves of Greywater

Water Environment Research, 2007
A study on chlorination of raw greywater with hypochlorite is reported in this paper. Samples were chlorinated in a variety of conditions, and residual chlorine (Cl 2) was measured spectrophotometrically. For each sample, the chlorination curve (chlorine residuals versus chlorine dose) was obtained.

The Breakpoint Grid

The Journal of Structured Finance, 2008
This article describes a model that combines the ideas of dynamic continuous credit rating, stress risk analysis, and a probabilistic view of losses. The article defines a breakpoint, a market scenario out of a sorted set that forces a non-agency bond to lose its first dollar of principal; a breakpoint ratio, an estimate of distance to default that is ...

The NF1 Translocation Breakpoint Region

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1991
The genetic locus that harbors mutation(s) responsible for neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is on chromosome 17, within band q11.2. We have mapped the human homologue of a murine gene (Evi-2) that is implicated in myeloid tumors, to a location between two NF1 translocation breakpoints on chromosome 17.

Fast breakpoints: design and implementation

ACM SIGPLAN Notices, 1990
We have designed and implemented a fast breakpoint facility. Breakpoints are usually thought of as a feature of an interactive debugger, in which case the breakpoints need not be particularly fast. In our environment breakpoints are often used for non-interactive information gathering; for example, procedure call count and statement ...

Fragile sites and cancer breakpoints

Cancer Genetics and Cytogenetics, 1984
To determine whether there might be a statistically significant association between fragile sites and cancer breakpoints, we examined the locations of the 21 fragile sites and the 50 cancer breakpoints recently accepted by the Seventh Human Gene Mapping Workshop. Nine of the 21 fragile sites appeared to be located at or near a cancer breakpoint.

Breakpoints and Concurrent Factors

2017
Up to this point, we have articulated a synthesized model of organizational change, and we subsequently detailed some initial findings about the moments at which the organizational configuration of Wikipedia—or the manner in which that configuration was changing over time—shifted.

A-A Translocations: Breakpoints and Stocks [PDF]

open access: possible, 1994
A remarkable resource of cytogenetic modifications, far beyond those available in most other experimental species, is available in the reciprocal translocations between A chromosomes of maize. Translocations were originally found in the 1920s (Brink 1927; Burnham 1930) as spontaneously arising, segregating “semisteriles” (i.e., plants with 50% aborted ...

The Breakpoint Graph in Ciliates

2005
The gene assembly process in ciliates (single-cell organisms) is interesting from both the biological and computational point of view. This paper studies the computational nature of the gene assembly process. Motivated by the breakpoint graph known from another branch of DNA transformation research, we introduce the reduction graph as a tool for the ...

Breakpoint Representation of Rainfall

Journal of Applied Meteorology, 1992
Abstract Pluviographs show there is a strong tendency for rain to abruptly change from one steady rate of fall to another, with these steady rates persisting for some time. This observation can be used to improve upon the traditional representation of rainfall that arose from the method of measurement but did not change with the advent of automatic ...
