Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Detecting Spatiotemporal Changes in Vegetation with the BFAST Model in the Qilian Mountain Region during 2000–2017

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
The Qilian Mountain ecosystems play an irreplaceable role in maintaining ecological security in western China. Vegetation, as an important part of the ecosystem, has undergone considerable changes in recent decades in this area, but few studies have ...

MET and NF2 alterations confer primary and early resistance to first‐line alectinib treatment in ALK‐positive non‐small‐cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Alectinib resistance in ALK+ NSCLC depends on treatment sequence and EML4‐ALK variants. Variant 1 exhibited off‐target resistance after first‐line treatment, while variant 3 and later lines favored on‐target mutations. Early resistance involved off‐target alterations, like MET and NF2, while on‐target mutations emerged with prolonged therapy.

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Cloração de esgoto sanitário: variação de cloro residual e o uso de parâmetros facilmente mensuráveis na indicação de breakpoint [PDF]

open access: yesRevista DAE, 2017
Neste estudo, foram monitoradas as variações de cloro residual livre e combinado após aplicação de cloro em diferentes dosagens e tempos de contato em esgoto advindo de tratamento preliminar. Em alguns casos, para um mesmo tempo de contato, houve maiores

Determination of jet fuel thermal deposit rate using a modified JFTOT [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Three fuels having different breakpoint temperatures were studied in the modified jet fuel thermal oxidation tester. The lower stability fuel with a breakpoint of 240 C was first stressed at a constant temperature.

Study of charge-phase diagrams for coupled system of Josephson junctions

open access: yes, 2010
Dynamics of stacked intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJ) in the high-Tc superconductors is theoretically investigated. We calculate the current-voltage characteristics (CVC) of IJJ and study the breakpoint region on the outermost branch of the CVC for the

Two‐way inhibition of PAX5 transcriptional activity by PAX5::CBFA2T3

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PAX5::CBFA2T3 (PAX5‐C) is a fusion protein of the B‐cell transcription factor, PAX5, and is found in B‐cell ALL. We propose a putative model of two‐way inhibition of PAX5 transcriptional activity by PAX5‐C. There are two ways of repression by PAX5‐C: DNA‐binding‐dependent way and HDAC‐dependent way, with either being sufficient for the repression. HDAC

A Reappraisal of Ventilatory Thresholds in Wheelchair Athletes With a Spinal Cord Injury: Do They Really Exist?

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2021
The ventilatory threshold (VT) separates low- from moderate-intensity exercise, the respiratory compensation point (RCP) moderate- from high-intensity exercise. Both concepts assume breakpoints in respiratory data. However, the objective determination of

3D‐Printed Architected Material for the Generation of Foam‐Based Protective Equipment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates 3D‐printed architected structures as alternatives to traditional foams in protective gear. It focuses on customizing impact strength and damping through design and manufacturing integration. Testing shows these structures outperform conventional foams, offering enhanced customizability, lower weight, and tunable performance ...
