Antimicrobial Multi‐Assay Evaluation of (Al‐Doped ZnO)‐Ag and TiO2‐Ag Nanocoatings: Impact of Direct and Indirect Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work explores the antimicrobial action of AZO‐Ag and TiO2‐Ag nanocoatings on plastic, demonstrating good efficacy against highly‐critical antibiotic‐resistant bacteria, yeast, and virus. A multi‐assay approach is here exploited to inspect the contribution of direct and indirect antimicrobial mechanisms, and potential human toxicity is also ...

The where and wherefore of evolutionary breakpoints [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biology, 2009
The 'action' in genome-level evolution lies not in the large gene-containing segments that are conserved among related species, but in the breakpoint regions between these segments. Two recent papers in BMC Genomics detail the pattern of repetitive elements associated with breakpoints and the epigenetic conditions under which breakage occurs.

Multi‐Material Gradient Printing Using Meniscus‐enabled Projection Stereolithography (MAPS)

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
MAPS is a new vat‐free printing technique that utilizes programmed delivery of resin droplets with custom formulations to enable multi‐material gradient printing of 3D structures with user‐defined variations in mechanical stiffness, opacity, surface energy, cell densities, and magnetic properties. Abstract Light‐based additive manufacturing methods are

Highly Sensitive Detection of Human Serum Albumin Biomarker Using a Molecularly Imprinted Polymer‐Based Electrochemical Capacitance Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
An electrosynthesized protein‐imprinted polymer (poly(azo‐BBY)) enables probe‐free, real‐capacitance detection of human serum albumin at 0.02 ng mL−1 within a 0.25–3.0 ng mL−1 window. The device uses a redox‐mediator‐free architecture and maintains selectivity against common interferents, illustrating a simple, scalable route to high‐sensitivity ...

Optimalisasi Sifat Reologi Hidrogel Kitosan-Hialuronat yang Ditaut-Silang dengan Glutaraldehida

open access: yesAlchemy, 2019
Kitosan membentuk hidrogel polikationik dengan penambahan glutaraldehida sebagai penaut-silang. Penambahan hialuronat yang bersifat polianionik diharapkan akan meningkatkan sifat reologis hidrogel tersebut.

Self‐Healing and Ultra‐Stretchable Hydrogel Strain Sensor Based on Poly (AAm‐co‐AMPS) for Multifunctional Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
A UV‐curable hydrogel strain sensor with ultrahigh stretchability (1000%), rapid self‐healing (3 s), and durability over 1000 cycles is reported. The sensor exhibits fast response/recovery (414/460 ms) and reliable motion monitoring on joints and muscles.

A Natural Major Module Confers the Trade‐Off between Phenotypic Mean and Plasticity of Grain Chalkiness in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the genetic and molecular mechanisms controlling the general trade‐off between phenotypic mean and plasticity of grain chalkiness in rice and identifies two major external drivers (high temperature and wide grain) and a natural major module (GCP6‐MPC5) that control this trade‐off.

Suboptimal Solution Path Algorithm for Support Vector Machine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We consider a suboptimal solution path algorithm for the Support Vector Machine. The solution path algorithm is an effective tool for solving a sequence of a parametrized optimization problems in machine learning.

Dynamic Neural Deactivation Bridges Direct and Competitive Inhibition Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dynamic neural deactivation bridges traditionally distinct inhibitory mechanisms—direct inhibition and competition‐induced inhibition—revealing a common neural signature across modalities. Multimodal neuroimaging and behavioral experiments demonstrate a temporal dynamic characterized by progressive frontoparietal activation decay and enhanced sensory ...
