Impact of an extreme storm event on a multiple intertidal barred coastal system
Extreme storms do not necessarily cause extreme coastal erosion. Integrated DGPS surveys and SWAN nearshore wave modelling reveal that Storm Barra's peak coincided with a low‐tide stage, allowing multiple intertidal bars (MITBs) to dissipate incoming wave energy before it reached Dundrum Bay's shoreline, highlighting the combined role of tidal stage ...

Abstract This field study investigated how oyster canopy density modulates hydrodynamics of natural intertidal oyster reef. High‐resolution velocity measurements were taken simultaneously within and above oyster canopies of variable density (solid volume fractions, Ø=$$ \mathrm{\O}= $$ 0.04–0.21).

Effects of a breakwater on a floating solar farm in heading and oblique waves [PDF]
Floating photovoltaic (FPV) solar farms have gained significant research and industrial interest in recent years. However, to support its deployment in abundant ocean space, FPV is required to be protected against wave loading.

Breakwater, looking eastward [PDF]
This negative is a copy of a photograph that shows a breakwater in the National Harbor of Refuge. The view is looking east from the west end of the breakwater. A lighthouse is visible on the east end of the breakwater.

Valobran Kaše: tijek i način izgradnje, primijenjene antičke tehnike gradnje u renesansi
Kaše breakwater, doubtless, is a remarkable monument of Renaissance civil engineering, masterly designed and executed by Paskoje Miličević. This boldly conceived project witnessed many problems from the very beginning of its construction. Serious damages

Coastal Marine Carbon and Air‐Sea Fluxes Quantified From pH Sensors on an Extended AUV Deployment
Abstract For the first time, the Autosub Long Range (ALR) completed a fully autonomous, long‐distance (2,000 km) scientific mission, delivering new insight into coastal carbonate dynamics and air‐sea CO2 ${\text{CO}}_{2}$ fluxes. Equipped with a suite of oceanographic sensors, including a Lab‐on‐Chip (LOC) pH sensor and a Sea‐Bird SeaFET pH sensor, the

The design scheme of the Zeebrugge Outer Harbour, Belgium, consists mainly of two breakwaters protruding into the sea as far as 1,750 m beyond the existing mole or 3.000 m out from the coastline. The west outer breakwater is 4,450 m long, the east breakwater runs 4,300 m out from the seafront.
