A surface wave model using three nested grids is applied to the eastern end of Lake Ontario to investigate wave propagation from an open lake environment to a small craft harbour protected by a breakwater.

Monitoring of the water particle velocity field near the seabed under different wave and tidal scenarios: a real case [PDF]
Monitoring of water particle velocity on the sea bed is crucial to study morphological shore changes in a coast at intermediate and shallow water depth under progressive surface waves and tidal flow current. Therefore, 3-D particle velocity was monitored

Dynamics of sediment transport and erosion-deposition patterns in the locality of a detached low-crested breakwater on a cohesive coast [PDF]
Understanding the dynamics of sediment transport and erosion-deposition patterns in the locality of a coastal structure is vital to evaluating the performance of coastal structures and predicting the changes in coastal dynamics caused by a specific ...

An Overview of Tsunami Hazards in the Southwest Pacific Ocean
The southwest Pacific region is geologically complex and exhibits all the principal causes of tsunami generation. While contemporary events and historical catalogs indicate that trans‐Pacific tsunamis have affected this area (∼18% of tsunamis reported globally), it is unique in that a large part of the tsunami effects over the ∼200‐year historical ...

A breakwater design is optimum when it results in a structure that meets the requirements at minimum total cost. The total cost consist of cost of construction, anticipated damage and economic loss due to failure of the structure. For any type of structure the design wave or load is governed by the condition of minimum total cost.

Experimental study on configuration optimization of floating breakwaters [PDF]
In this paper, four types of floating breakwaters (FB) are proposed: cylindrical floating breakwater (CFB), porous floating breakwater (PFB), mesh cage floating breakwater type-I (MCFB-I) and mesh cage floating breakwater type-II (MCFB-II).

Minor epic: Notes toward a different “Anthropoetry”
Abstract Anthropologists have often turned to poetry as a means of accessing emotional registers of which conventional academic prose is unable to avail. In doing so, they have tacitly conflated poetry with lyric poetry, today probably the most widely practiced poetic genre, associated in particular with the expression of inner feelings and subjectival

The present paper deals with the analytical evaluation of the hydrodynamic characteristics of an array of vertical axisymmetric bodies of arbitrary shape, placed in front of a reflecting vertical breakwater, which can be conceived as floaters for wave ...
