This paper presents a framework for Multiple Resilience Dividends (MRD) that proposes shift climate change adaptation from a narrow risk‐focused perspective to a broader, multi‐objective systems approach. By recognizing the diverse range of benefits that adaptation measures can provide, practitioners can go beyond merely avoiding losses.

Breakwaters impact marine turtle nesting activity
Coastal erosion is a significant environmental issue, exacerbated by human activities and rising sea levels due to climate change. One of the measures developed to counteract erosion worldwide is the use of breakwaters: structures designed to protect ...

An Assessment of Two Models of Wave Propagation in an Estuary Protected by Breakwaters
Breakwaters influence coastal wave climate and circulation by blocking and dissipating wave energy. In a large harbor, these effects are combined with wave generation, refraction and reflection.

The 2025 Kamchatka Earthquake and Tsunami: Cascading Impacts and Risks to Japan
ABSTRACT On July 29th, 2025, a large earthquake (Mw 8.8) occurred near the Kamchatka Peninsula. This event caused a tsunami that reached Japan's Pacific coast, even though the source was far away. In this study, we analyze the characteristics of earthquakes and tsunamis and discuss how they relate to the recurrence possibility and risk in Japan.

ABSTRACT Disasters exacerbated by climate change have prompted adaptation measures, including seawall heightening, which is an effective approach to protecting coastal areas. However, the combined effect of rising sea levels and tsunamis can create a compound coastal hazard, in which long‐term sea level rise amplifies the impact of tsunamis.

ABSTRACT In April 2024, the Indonesian government officially declared Jakarta a global city. Although scholars have noted that Jakarta's connectedness to the global system and the aspiration to transform Jakarta into a global city are not new, the lexicon was not yet substantively marshalled in Jakarta's policies and plans.
