Conservation laws and breather-to-soliton transition for a variable-coefficient modified Hirota equation in an inhomogeneous optical fiber

Waves in Random and Complex Media, 2021
Optical fibers are used in the communications, biological sensors and chemical sensors. We investigate a variable-coefficient modified Hirota equation for the amplification or absorption of pulses propagating in an inhomogeneous optical fiber.

Bilinear Bäcklund transformation, soliton and breather solutions for a (3+1)-dimensional generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation in fluid dynamics and plasma physics

Physica Scripta, 2021
A (3+1)-dimensional generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation in fluid dynam-ics and plasma physics is hereby investigated. Via the Hirota method, bilinear Bäcklund transformation are obtained, along with two types of the analytic solutions.

Breather-wave, periodic-wave and traveling-wave solutions for a (2 + 1)-dimensional extended Boiti–Leon–Manna–Pempinelli equation for an incompressible fluid

, 2021
In this paper, the investigation is conducted on a (2 + 1)-dimensional extended Boiti–Leon–Manna–Pempinelli equation for an incompressible fluid. Via the Riemann theta function, periodic-wave solutions are derived, and breather-wave solutions are ...

Subharmonic Entrainment Breather Solitons in Ultrafast Lasers.

Physical Review Letters, 2020
We study theoretically and experimentally the subharmonic entrainment (SHE) breather soliton in mode-locked lasers for the first time, in which the ratio of the breather period to the round-trip time is an integer. We build a non-Hermitian degeneracy map

Breathers and Q-Breathers: Two Sides of the Same Coin

SIAM Journal on Applied Dynamical Systems, 2012
We construct, and approximate from the continuum, two-parameter families of time periodic, small amplitude, localized solutions, for both the focusing and defocusing finite discrete nonlinear Schrodinger models, with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Within such families, depending on the parameters, both real space localization (breathers) and Fourier ...

Chaotic breathers and breather fission/fusion for a vector nonlinear Schrödinger equation in a birefringent optical fiber or wavelength division multiplexed system

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2020
Investigation is made on a vector nonlinear Schrodinger equation in the anomalous dispersion regime describing the optical pulses in a birefringent optical fiber or in a wavelength division multiplexed system. We derive the analytical breather solutions.

Inverse scattering and N-triple-pole soliton and breather solutions of the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger hierarchy with nonzero boundary conditions

, 2021
Based on the matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem we present the inverse scattering transform for the focusing nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation with nonzero boundary conditions (NZBCs) at infinity and triple zeros of analytical scattering coefficients.

Solitons and breather waves for the generalized Konopelchenko-Dubrovsky-Kaup-Kupershmidt system in fluid mechanics, ocean dynamics and plasma physics

, 2020
Under investigation in this paper is the (2+1)-dimensional generalized Konopelchenko-Dubrovsky-Kaup-Kupershmidt system, which can be used to describe certain situations in fluid mechanics, ocean dynamics and plasma physics.

Soliton-breather reaction pathways

Physical Review E, 1999
We use a collective coordinate approach to investigate corpuscular properties of breathers in nonlinear lattice systems. We calculate the breather internal energy and inertial mass and use them to analyze the reaction pathways of breathers with kinks that are preformed in the lattice.
