Epidemiology and Genetics of Rheumatic Diseases Suggest a Constant Rate of DNA Damage as Underlying Cause

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 177, Issue 4, Page 736-748, April 2026.
A constant rate of DNA damage that is not perfectly repaired will cause a constant rate of DNA mutations. The chance of mutation will increase if DNA is prone to damage, such as occurs in somatic hypermutation (SHM) hotspots and GC‐rich DNA. Thus, if one mutation‐prone DNA site drives disease, the age of onset of disease and degree of penetrance should

Dilepton Production in Nucleon-Nucleon Reactions With and Without Hadronic Inelasticities

open access: yes, 1993
We calculate elementary proton-proton and neutron-proton bremsstrahlung and their contribution to the $e^+e^-$ invariant mass distribution. At 4.9 GeV, the proton-proton contribution is larger than neutron-proton, but it is small compared to recent data.

The Source Brightness Distribution of Terrestrial Gamma‐Ray Flashes From the ALOFT Flight Campaign

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 6, 28 March 2026.
Abstract Terrestrial Gamma‐ray Flashes (TGFs) are naturally occurring phenomena that consist of bursts of gamma radiation associated with thunderclouds. Measurements of TGFs have been predominantly based on satellite instruments due to the significantly larger observation area compared to ground measurements. Due to atmospheric attenuation of the gamma

Virtual-pion and two-photon production in pp scattering

open access: yes, 2002
Two-photon production in pp scattering is proposed as a means of studying virtual-pion emission. Such a process is complementary to real-pion emission in pp scattering.

Collective mechanism of dilepton production in high-energy nuclear collisions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Collective bremsstrahlung of vector meson fields in relativistic nuclear collisions is studied within the time dependent Walecka model. Mutual deceleration of the colliding nuclei is described by introducing the e ective stopping time and average ...
