Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 2006Abstract A combination of NMR analysis and molecular mechanics calculations has succeeded in the determination of the stereostructure of flexible briarane diterpenoids. The molecular mechanics calculations disclosed the multi-conformational nature of the briarane diterpenoids and gave a successful reproduction of the observed 3J coupling

Tetrahedron, 2007Abstract Four chlorinated metabolites featuring briarane carbon skeletons have been isolated from the gorgonian coral Ellisella robusta, which was collected off the coast of southern Taiwan: two new natural products, robustolides D (1) and E (2), and two known metabolites, robustolides F (3) and G (4).

Fragilide B: A Novel Briarane-Type Diterpenoid with a S-cis Diene Moiety
Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 2007Abstract A novel chlorinated briarane derivative, fragilide B (1), was isolated from the Formosan gorgonian coral Junceella fragilis. Fragilide B (1) possesses a s-cis diene moiety in the structure. The structure of 1 was elucidated by interpretation of spectral data and further supported by molecular mechanics calculations.
