Why Are Some Public Officials more Corrupt Than Others? [PDF]

open access: yes
Using detailed Peruvian data measuring bribery, I assess which types of public official are most corrupt and why. I distinguish between the bribery rate and the size of bribes received, and seek to explain the variation in each across public institutions.

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...

The Computational Difficulty of Bribery in Qualitative Coalitional Games [PDF]

open access: yes
Qualitative coalitional games (QCG) are representations of coalitional games in which self interested agents, each with their own individual goals, group together in order to achieve a set of goals which satisfy all the agents within that group.

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.
