Nanomedicine Meets Immunotherapy: Advancing Adoptive Cell Therapy with Nanoparticles in the Treatment of Cancer with Sustainability Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review surveys nanoparticle‐based strategies to enhance adoptive cell therapy, particularly CAR‐T cell approaches, in solid tumor treatment. It describes how nanoparticles can improve tumor immunogenicity and T‐cell infiltration while reducing toxicity, and how they enable in vivo CAR‐T cell generation.

Multiscale Carbon‐Integrated Silicon Anode for Stable Cycling Under Practical Lithium‐Ion Battery Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
To overcome silicon anode instability, a hierarchical silicon/carbon composite fabricated from industrial waste via a scalable milling process is demonstrated. In‐depth post‐mortem analysis reveals how functional carbons—a CNT network and graphene shell—synergistically suppress degradation. This robust design delivers outstanding stability in practical

Building Bricks with Bricks, with Mathematica

open access: yes, 2011
In this work we solve a special case of the problem of building an n-dimensional parallelepiped using a given set of n-dimensional parallelepipeds. Consider the identity x^3 = x(x-1)(x-2)+3x(x-1+x). For sufficiently large x, we associate with x^3 a cube with edges of size x, with x(x-1)(x-2) a parallelepiped with edges x, x-1, x-2, with 3x(x-1+x) three

Safety of Sodium‐Ion Batteries: Evaluation and Perspective from Component Materials to Cells, Modules, and Packs

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides a bottom‐up evaluation of sodium‐ion battery safety, linking material degradation mechanisms, cell engineering parameters, and module/pack assembly. It emphasizes that understanding intrinsic material stability and establishing coordinated engineering control across hierarchical levels are vital for preventing degradation coupling ...

Tailoring Electronic Properties of Precision Graphene Nanoribbons via Nanopore Engineering

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Novel porous graphene nanoribbons incorporating [18]annulene nanopores, together with a nonporous GNR of identical width, have been synthesized. Spectroscopic and theoretical analyses reveal that nanopore incorporation effectively tunes their electronic properties by enlarging the bandgap, reducing charge‐carrier mobility, and modulating exciton ...

Examining the Degree of Duration Dependence in the Western Cape Labour Market [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper investigates the effects of long bouts of unemployment on the employment probabilities of the unemployed, and the factors affecting unemployment duration. This is achieved through the estimation of the hazard rate.

Changes in Alcohol Retail Laws and Foot Traffic at Liquor Stores

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We study how expanding alcohol availability at grocery and convenience stores affects consumer traffic in liquor stores by leveraging recent changes in state‐level alcohol distribution laws in a difference‐in‐difference quasi‐experimental design.
