Ladle brick from Troshkov clays
Refractories, 1970Troshkov dry and semidry clays are suitable for making chamotte ladle brick by the semidry method of pressing. To increase the density of the brick it is necessary to incorporate in the bonding part of the batch a mixture of clay and chamotte (30∶70) obtained by tubemilling. The low-fired chamotte is not recommended.

Producing usable clay-lime bricks
Batiment International, Building Research and Practice, 1976Developing countries are experimenting to produce building materials that utilise existing resources. Here, somewhat specialised work in the ceramics division of the National Research Centre, United Arab Republic, is presented in some detail to show how a heterogenous local clay mixed with 20 per cent lime produced bricks with reasonable mechanical ...

Clay Brick Masonry Weight Variation
Journal of Architectural Engineering, 1996The weight of clay brick masonry can vary by more than 30% from the minimum design dead load required by ASCE 7–95 (“Minimum” 1996). Variations in clay brick masonry weight have implications not only for structural and acoustical design, but also for design of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
