Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2013Ethylene-bridged azobenzene (diazocine) has been shown to have superior photochemical properties. So far, however, experimental and theoretical quantum yields did not match, not even qualitatively. Here, a large-scale QM/MM surface-hopping study of this molecule is presented.

Dyes and Pigments, 2017Abstract A series of novel azobenzene-based dyes were designed and synthesized using azobenzene as the π-spacer unit to connect diarylamino and cyanoacetic acids for construction of the D–π–A conformation. The introduction of a thienyl into the anchor group (A) could lead to a red-shift in the absorption spectra and λonset of the dyes.

Monatshefte fuer Chemie/Chemical Monthly, 2000The self-assembly of Ag[BF4] with trans-azobenzene in dichloromethane yields a new coordination polymer ([Ag(μ-trans-azobenzene)H20][BF4]) n which was characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The crystal consists of 1-D zigzag cationic chains made up from [Ag(H20)]+ units linked by trans-azobenzene bridges and BF 4 − anions.
