Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1963Five brighteners used in household detergent products have been investigated from the standpoints of acute oral toxicity, subacute percutaneous toxicity, skin tumorigenicity, and sensitization of the skin. LD50 values ranged from 2.8 g/kg to greater than 21.5 g/kg in mouse, rat, guinea pig, and rabbit.
