Tidal Disruption of Super Star Clusters as the Origin of Bluish Light at the Inner Region of the Perseus Cluster Central Galaxy

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Relatively blue light extends beyond a spiral disk from a radius of ∼5 kpc out to ∼14 kpc from the center of NGC 1275. Analyses of its spectrum and broadband colors reveal a population of young stars having subsolar metallicities superposed on a dominant

Using Neural Networks to Automate the Identification of Brightest Cluster Galaxies in Large Surveys

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs) lie deep within the largest gravitationally bound structures in existence. Though some cluster finding techniques identify the position of the BCG and use it as the cluster center, other techniques may not automatically ...

JWST Photometry of Globular Cluster Populations in MACS0417.5−1154

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Deep JWST imaging of the massive galaxy cluster MACS0417.5−1154, at redshift z = 0.443, reveals a huge population of globular clusters (GCs) and ultracompact dwarfs (UCDs) primarily distributed around its single central giant brightest cluster galaxy ...

Evolution of the Brightest Cluster Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes
In this thesis, I explore the evolution of the brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs) over the last 10 billion years through detailed studies of both local BCGs from SDSS and their high-z progenitors from CANDELS UDS.\ud \ud First, I study a large sample of local BCGs and link their morphologies to their structural properties.
