A Novel Approach on Rapid Alloy Development of Tool Steels for Laser Powder Bed Fusion by In Situ Alloying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel approach for alloy development in laser powder bed fusion is introduced. Instead of producing massive samples of one composition at a time, prepressed powder bed samples produced from powder mixtures are processed. Guidelines for the selection of precursor powders are developed.

Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of High‐Nitrogen Alloyed FeCr(Si)N Stainless Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The alloying element Nitrogen enhances stainless steel strength, corrosion resistance, and stabilizes austenite. This study develops austenitic FeCr(Si)N steel production via powder metallurgy. Fe20Cr and Si3N4 are hot isostatically pressed, creating an austenitic microstructure.

The properties of chromium electrodeposited with programmed currents. Part I. Direct current

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2000
The electrodeposition of chromium in programmed direct current (DC) was investigated in the regime of high current density (77 A dm-2). Chromium was deposited in a system of plane-parallel electrodes in chromic-sulphuric acid solution, on specimens of ...

Boosting Illuminant Estimation in Deep Color Constancy through Enhancing Brightness Robustness [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Color constancy estimates illuminant chromaticity to correct color-biased images. Recently, Deep Neural Network-driven Color Constancy (DNNCC) models have made substantial advancements. Nevertheless, the potential risks in DNNCC due to the vulnerability of deep neural networks have not yet been explored.

Bimodality of Freeman's Law [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1997
A cluster sample of 62 galaxies complete to M(B)=-16.5 mag has been observed at B,R,I,K' bands with imaging detectors. The distribution of exponential disk central surface brightnesses is found to be bimodal. The bimodality is particularly significant at K' because obscuration is not a problem and because the high surface brightness galaxies are redder
