Tanganyika Territory, previously German East Africa, was a League of Nations mandated territory awarded to Great Britain after World War I in 1919. The territory’s central administration, headquartered in Dar es Salaam, consisted of a Secretariat, High Court, Treasury and various technical departments, e.g. agriculture, labour, public works, etc.
