The Press and Portuguese-British Relations at the Time of the British ‘Ultimatum’
2017On 11 January 1890, a small Portuguese military column received an order to leave the Makololos territory in Upper Zambezi. The Portuguese forces did not retreat and on the same day the British envoy in Lisbon conveyed an ‘ultimatum’ to the government led by Jose Luciano de Castro.
